I recently bought a usb bluetooth dongle. lsusb tells me this about the device:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
The problem is that the device works randomly. I have dbus BEFORE the bluetooth daemon and bluedevil starts at the beggining.
When the dongle doesn't work i try to put it down and up again, and this is the output i get:
[root@Xenogears user]# hciconfig hci0 down
[root@Xenogears user]# hciconfig hci0 up
Can't init device hci0: Connection timed out (110)
[root@Xenogears user]
Or when i close bluedevil and i start it again i get this:
[root@Xenogears user]# bluedevil-monolithic
bluedevilmonolithic(3349): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
bluedevilmonolithic(3348): KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.
What does this mean? What is the correct way to use the bluetooth?. Thanks.

I don't use bluedevil but kbluetooth which works fine. How do you start KDE?

i installed kbluetooth once but it crashes randomly. I don't know what was the problem.
For example, when i change the name of the device, crash! when i scan for devices, crash!
I start KDE with the daemon method, putting kdm on the daemons array.
Thanks a lot for the reply.

If dbus (and hal) are properly running I don't see a reason why it doesn't work. Maybe some dbus permissions or whatever but I don't have a clue.

Was this ever resolved? I have the same issue.
EDIT: I have the exact same Bluetooth dongle according to lsusb, btw.

I think is a problem with kernel 2.39 and some bluetooth dispositives. Using kernel-lts, bluedevil works fine with my bluetooth devices.
