Kernel 2.6 package

Will it, at some point in the future, be possible to upgrade from the stock 2.4.x kernel to 2.6.0 by simply doing
pacman -Sy kernel ?

Or, to rephrase the question: will it be "newbie-simple" to upgrade to kernel version 2.6 when that package had been added to the repository?

Re: Kernel 2.6 package

once the 2.6 is stable a package will be made for it and it will be aded to the repository not before then.

Re: Kernel 2.6 package

Well, actually, my question isn't when it will be available, but will it be simple to upgrade to?

Re: Kernel 2.6 package

Having no experience trying, I'll say that the developers will do our best.

Most likely it will be pretty easy... but there may be a hitch or two that we'll tell everyone about.
