Hello everyone!
I have a problem: when copying files to my USB-stick, everything looks fine, the files all go where they are supposed to and they are working. But then, when I unplug it and plug it in again, either in the same port or at some other computer, all the newly copied files are gone! What is going on? There are already a number of things on the USB-stick and they stay untouched, whatever happens with the other files. It is also not a problem to copy anything with WindowsXP on it, thing stay there...
I work with pcmanfm, but I allready tried to use the terminal for copying files - the same problem... I also tried different USB-sticks, all the same. Maybe someone can help me with this...
Cheers,
Andi

Also you say "unplugged" if you mean that literally - you copy the file then just pull the usb drive out of the socket when the copy finished, you really would be best to unmount it before unplugging. Not only should that sync the files to the disk it reduces the risk of damage due the the drive being unplugged in the middle of a write.

Either type "sync" (once should suffice) and then unplug your stick, or, better, unmount or "eject" it. It's the same under Windows really, if you don't "safely remove this peripheral" you risk loosing data.
