[SOLVED] Is gen-init-cpio going for deprecation?

On my system pacman -Qdt outputs:

$ pacman -Qdt
gen-init-cpio 2.6.36-1

which is not needed for any other package (according to pacman -Sii). I assume it was pulled in as a dep for mknitcpio, but now it is not even an optdep. Is this package deprecated and if so, what replaces it?

2) We now use bsdcpio instead of gen_init_cpio. This obsoletes the
gen_init_cpio package and adds a dependency on libarchive. This also
speeds up the image generation considerably.

Ahh, thanks smile

Apparently I didn't pay enough attention to [arch-dev] bback in June...
