[SOLVED] Misaligned partitions

I've done a clean install of Archlinux + Gnome 3 following the unofficial begginner's guide and making the partitions by myself with the tools given in the Archlinux setup program. Everything seemed OK until once on Gnome 3 the disks utility gives me the message:

"WARNING: The partition is misaligned by 512 bytes. This may result in very poor performance. Repartitioning is suggested."

This message for every one of my partitions, the firts 512 bytes, the second 2048 and the third 2560.

What should I do, ignore the message or try to fix it? If I choose the second option, how can I do it?

Thank you.

Re: [SOLVED] Misaligned partitions

This article gives  a good description of misalignment :  http://www.storagereview.com/impact_misalignment

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

Re: [SOLVED] Misaligned partitions

Just use gparted to resize/move your partitions. By default it aligns to 1MB. The partitions must be unmounted so for / you'll have to do it from another system (live usb for example.)

Re: [SOLVED] Misaligned partitions

I'm having the same problem, but I'm not 100% sure how to resize/remove with Gparted live. I'm going to backup my home directory then see if I can't figure it out. In the meanwhile, could someone give me more specific instructions? I have four partitions misaligned by 512 bytes, 1536 bytes, 1024 bytes, and 2560 bytes, and they are, respectively, ext2 at /boot, swap, ext4 at /, and ext4 at /home.

Re: [SOLVED] Misaligned partitions

I ended up doing a fresh install. And by the way, the latest gparted live still was not able to set the table correctly; I had to use fdisk from the command line.
