Pacman -Syu error:pacman config corrupt(re-installed)

Recent install of x86_64 to correct segfault has a new failure mode.

Pacman-db-upgrade successfully installed and pacman -Syy performed.

Installed a dozen packages and rebooted several times.

Last attempt to use pacman was to try to install firefox.

Thus: ...pacman-S firefox...produced error: config file /etc/pacman.conf/, line 8:ALL directives must belong to a section.......

Entered /etc and... nano pacman.conf.... result was unreadable corrupted file.

Entered /etc and :  nano rc.conf...result readable file

Conclusion is pacman is corrupted...first a seg fault in previous thread and now a corrupt pacman.conf.

Will post the --debug for pacman -Syu in next post.

Are these problems mirror related?  How is this?  Never had this before............

As the error message indicates, you are missing a section header. Please post your /etc/pacman.conf.

Re: Pacman -Syu error:pacman config corrupt(re-installed)

Reading /etc/pacman.conf of new install.... with HDD archlinux boot and it appears normal ....reads corrupted in new install /etc/pacman.conf as reported in previous post.

Was able to install many packages before discovering pacman problem after later reboots.

Have yet to provide a browser in that install.

I may have to install the browser initially before reboot!

It suggests a db problem...perhaps need to run ....pacman -S pacman....after sync is completed?
