How do I downgrade gcc?

I'm trying to downgrade gcc, however there seems to be a circular dependency issue.  gcc depends on gcc-libs which depends on gcc.  How do I do this ?

Thank You

Re: How do I downgrade gcc?

You can specify both the gcc and gcc-libs packages as arguments to pacman which should meet one's dependency on the other.

Not that is a really bad idea...    a lot of software is build against the newer gcc-libs.    Look in the AUR to get old gcc packages.

Allan meant 'note', not 'not'. I assume. In any case, I'll just help him to clarify things - downgrading gcc is a bad idea. Your system could crash hard.

Re: How do I downgrade gcc?

The AUR have old version of gcc that can be installed alongside the new gcc. Install them.
