Hello,
I'm currently devoted to programming, algorithms and suchlike stuff, and I should have a system that's lite, fast and just works.
I have an HP 6735s laptop (the one I've had forever) and it currently works with Windows 7 but the situation is horrible.
For example, when I've disabled everything related to suspension/hibernation but my computer hibernates at random points. Also, I can't have urxvt, vim and gcc and g++ (like a purist!) which feels bad because DevC++ is pure crap.
I tried installing Arch with GPT on my laptop at some point but it failed miserably. I don't have the courage to reinstall, I'd prefer it if there was an Arch-based live CD to do the work for me. Do you know of any that are kind of barebones but not *much*?
Also, I'd like to have maximum uptime on battery. I don't know how this is possible. My CPU is an AMD and GPU and ATI HD3200.
Thanks for your replies.

Have you tried rolling your own?

Well, I'm an experienced Arch user but I have no time to be completely into it at the moment, so I'd rather prefer something ready.
From this list I only liked KahelOS and Frugalware. Do you know if both of them are still active?

Frugalware announced a new (-rc) release just a couple days ago, so I think they are active.

Also, what about the battery uptime? I guess I will need the catalyst or something instead of the open driver, right?
