Laptop recommendation for power and hardware acceleration

I am wondering is there a laptop config out there which gives me comparable battery life to win7 , runs cool and has hardware acceleration for HD movies/flash preferably with free video drivers.
Please suggest if someone has managed such a configuration and is extremely happy with their choice smile

Re: Laptop recommendation for power and hardware acceleration

I get like 4 hrs of battery life on my asus u52f, and my intel ironlake graphics give me working vaapi h.264 acceleration in vlc.

For flash acceleration, you may not get that with open drivers (correct me if I am wrong) flash currently only supports vdpau, which you need nvidia + proprietary drivers for.

This particular laptop had a few little problems out of the box (suspend/sound) but they were easily fixed and I've been happy with it.

Just make sure to avoid any laptops with optimus.
