Recently my Arch box started to randomly lose the ability to connect to the web. This happens fairly often after about a day of uptime. When this happens, I observe the following symptoms:
Trying to connect to a web site through a browser or wget produces no response (both for HTTP and HTTPS protocols). Sometimes I will be able to connect to certain domains but not others, but once I connect to such a working domain, within about a minute further connections to it fail.
I can access the router's web page.
I can perform DNS lookups.
I can ping any internet domain.
I can SSH into machines outsite my network.
I can use IRC.
Other machines connected to the same router work fine.
Restarting the network service does not fix the issue.
Rebooting fixes the issue.
This started happening about 2-4 weeks ago. I do not use any proxy, local or remote, at least as far as I know.
Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this, or any debugging suggestions?

Some logs .e.g dmesg would be handy.

The dmesg log has been overwritten since I restarted after posting (didn't expect a quick reply). I will post it once the issue reoccurs (probably tomorrow). Other logs (kernel, messages, daemon, errors, user, system) have no entries with a timestamp close to the last time this error occurred.

Sounds like the TCP window scaling issue.
Try reloading NIC driver perhaps.
I also had this issue, but it's gone since I replaced the router with another running DD-WRT. And no, nothing I did other than that helped.
