Kernel 2.6.12.1-2 breaks my FTP server

Hello. I'm running an FTP server using vsftpd and upgrading the kernel broke it - users were unable to use the SYST command.

Downgrading to the old kernel fixed it. Is there a new configuration setting in the new kernel's package which might have caused this?

Thanks.

it's not really broken, the fact is that there was a request of building
capabilities as module. I'm sure apeiro will release a new rc.sysinit or
something similar that loads capability on startup. For the time being you
can add "capability" to the MODULES array in rc.conf which should fix your
issues. or leve it to modprobe.conf or whatever is your prefered way. Sorry
for inconveniences.

Oh, I was not even aware this is a kernel option. Guess you learn new things every day.

Thanks a lot for your input neri.

Re: Kernel 2.6.12.1-2 breaks my FTP server

Hmm, after a few hours of using this kernel a lot of other issues came up, my network started to freeze, couldn't shut down the machine properly, konqueror started freezing on several websites etc.

Maybe this is just one of those bad kernel releases every now and then. I'll keep 2.6.11.10 for now.
