Stange video issue when scrolling in a console window

I will probably have difficulty describing this properly. Hence why I think I haven't been able to find a similar thread.

What happens is that when I am in KDE4, in a console window sometimes the display doesn't update. So what might happen I may run a command that prints output to the screen. However in the console window it will stop at a point. I then need to press Enter to see the command line again.

Sometimes when using nano for instance is that the screen will "freeze" and only update the top half of the console window as I scroll down the file.

What I can say is that I run Debian, Fedora and Gentoo as well on this machine and I do not have this issue.

Re: Stange video issue when scrolling in a console window

Probably should have stated that I am using an nVidia GTX295 card and the extra/nvidia 260.19.29-1 driver.

So this is not a common problem?

Re: Stange video issue when scrolling in a console window

this is now actually quite serious. I tried to follow the guide on how to install Grub2.

However when I install grub2-bios, the terminal never changed from

Proceed with installation? [Y/n]

after I pressed Enter.

Yet when I chroot into Arch from my Debian install it finishes smoothly..

I am pretty certain this is the issue as the rest of the system behaves as I would expect. And behaves as my Fedora and Debian installs.
