lpic1/linux+ cert tips

i have been studyign for awhile fo rthese exams and plan to take it within the next few weeks but i am unsure what else to study or how to study usingjust me vm. i looked at objective and seem pretty familiar with commands but i still use man pages if i dont know the syntax or siwtches. its hard to memorize ALL the switches for every command.

anyone taken either of these and have tips of what to study more? i am unsure how xinetd exactly works but have been trying to understand it more. i am using both a fedora 15 (lxde spin) and arch virtual machines to play with buut am stuck.

any advice welcome. i dont want to pay for the tests then fail them and have to pay again.

LPIC-1 is not hard,

Michael Jang's book is an ok study guide.

it's not particularly good to learn anything important from, but it hits heavy on the kind of flags that are likely to show up on the LPIC exam, also it's nice to know which particular borderline-obselete areas of knowledge will show up on LPIC.  One thing I really dislike about the book is that it contains some blatantly wrong information, but this is stuff that's tangential to the exam objectives.

Debian and CentOS are good reference OSes to use while studying.

Ultimately, LPIC is kind of stupid, because it generally quizzes you on information that you can read out of man pages, and doesn't directly test the skills that are most relevant to actual systems administration or programming, but it is what it is, and cramming command switches and syntax is probably the most effective way to pass the exam.
