Any interest in Mousepad, from xfce?

I just created a pkgbuild and .install file for mousepad. I like it becasue it has 'recent documents' which leafpad doesn't. For the moment it isn't in standard repos neither in AUR. I'm not running xfce so I don't know if it's in one of the different xfce packages (goodies?).

Would it be of any use uploading it to AUR? And would some kind soul check my files?
Im learning pkgbuild and I've read the guidelines on AUR but some real world pointers would be appreciated.

Yes, that explains why mousepad is gone but leafpad doesn't have 'recent items' which is a shortcoming in my world.

I probably would have kept mousepad instead of leafpad if there had been an AUR package.

If you miss the recently opened files list, chances are someone else does too. Just upload your work to the AUR, it doesn't have to be perfect. (And if you want people to check your files, a link would help wink.)

There are some mousepad versions available in ARM http://arm.konnichi.com/search/index.ph … ommunity=1 but I don't know if they work.

Re: Any interest in Mousepad, from xfce?

OK. I'll upload it and see what happens. Of course I've tested it on my setup.

EDIT: got this error;
Could not create directory /srv/http/aur.archlinux.org/public/unsupported/mousepad

The package is called mousepad-0.2.16-1.src.tar.gz and is created with makepkg --source. It has just the two files needed; PKGBUILD and mousepad.install in it. Strange?

Had to call it mousepad-standalone. Hope there are more out there that prefers Mousepad instead of Leafpad.

Please comment!

Works here. Thanks smile. Why did you have to call it mousepad-standalone?

Re: Any interest in Mousepad, from xfce?

'mousepad' was blacklisted and I really don't mean to workaround the AUR devs rules and regulations by renamning it. I sincerely think there might be a need for this package.

Re: Any interest in Mousepad, from xfce?

A new git version of mousepad:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51101

It takes latest git source, patches it for a bug, and compiles it. Compared to the first mousepad version mentioned above it needs a few more dependencies like xfce4-dev-tools.

The bug that's fixed is that 'recent items' didn't list newly created docs. And from the git source there are lots of new translations, mostly.

Bugfixing: Thanks to Lionel le Folgoc (https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5635)

Re: Any interest in Mousepad, from xfce?

Why was it removed? I checked the other thread (with the misspelt title that doesn't appear in search (grr...)) and followed the links, none of which gave an answer.

Thanks for this, mousepad has been my default editor for a long time and I just reinstalled today and was like "where is my mousepad!?"
