Just did a clean system reinstall, installing the complete kde-meta.
So a few problems, I set the wallpaper, delete the small konquerer icons and activities icons, but on reboot wallpaper is missing (just shows a black screen), and the icons are back.
Also Wicd doesn't work properly at boot, seems like the ath9k module is unloaded even though it is included in rc.conf, and only works properly after issuing modprobe ath9k.

Network issue - what kernel are you using? Take a look inside /etc/modprobe.d/ - maybe the module is being blacklisted.

Thanks for the /etc/modprobe.d/. Archboot apparently put it there...
I checked that thread out but the issues were with crashing, not disappearing/reappearing wallpaper/icons.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 86#p967686 talks about a non-working wallpaper, but it's just a guess - I've never used KDE ;P
As for archboot, do you want to reopen https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25308 ? Or maybe ask for an announcement, because you're not the first person t run into this (and surely not the last one).

Re: the least urgent part of your problem--I had Kate and Dolphin icons that kept returning on each login, and they actually turned out to be part of the Task Manager widget. So I removed it and added it back, and now they seem to be staying away.

Thank you solved all my problems.
For the wallpaper installing kde-wallpapers
For the reappearing icons removing and reputting of the Task Manager
