Ralink 5390 (rt5390sta) module not found / not loading.

Bought a new laptop and decided to install Arch right away. It's an HP dm1 with the Ralink 5390 (named 539f in lspci) wireless card. The problem is, I couldn't get it to work.

I followed the instructions here --> https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=925544 and the instructions found in the Ubuntu forums. I followed everything in there:
-patch Ralink's source
-rename RT2860STA.dat to RT5390STA.dat
-make
-copy RTA5390STA.dat to /etc/Wireless/RTA5390STA/
-copy /rt5390sta.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.39-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/

After I reboot, i tried modprobing rt5390sta, but it says it couldn't be found. lsmod returns no rt5390sta either. Is there anything "special" that I should do before these modules could be found?

I'm sure this is pretty easy for the experts to answer. I just don't know what exactly I'm looking for here xD

TIA :

EDIT: BTW, im running the 32-bit version of Arch.

You need to call depmod to update module dependency files before tools like modprobe will be able to find the module.

Any reason you're not just using the AUR package for this?

Re: Ralink 5390 (rt5390sta) module not found / not loading.

Tried depmod. Thanks. I can load it now, but I can't find networks. Oh well. I'll just wait for this to be "fixed".

And regarding the AUR package: For some reason my network doesn't properly download from ftp. And that's the same file I found in a tutorial somewhere. Checked out the PKGBUILD, and did the preset commands manually. It's the same, right? xD I'm not sure, but I really didn't put too much effort in downloading from AUR after that failed download from an ftp server.

And oh, someone told me that this no longer works for 2.6.39.x. Can anyone confirm this? I tried using the LTS kernel. This time it plain won't see my card with ifconfig.

TIA.

EDIT: The source url isn't ftp. Sry xD Still won't download though.

Nevermind. Got it to work even on 2.6.39.
