laptop wireless problem

i installed arch on my lenovo thinkpad edge & when i connect to a wifi network it doesn't last much more than 15 mins before it disconnects me.

i've installed the drivers necessary, using wicd (as there seem to be problems with networkmanager)... can't figure out what's wrong.

Re: laptop wireless problem

First, I would try turning power management off for your wireless interface.

# iwconfig wlan0 power off

If that doesn't work, this might be a similar issue:

Re: laptop wireless problem

Try the fallback kernel or an LTS kernel.  My usb nic is wireless and will not function in any LTS environment.  It shows up and works for about an hour or two then just shuts itself off for some reason.  It may be you have a similar situation.
