:? Does anybody know why my sound keeps dropping? I regularly have to go into alsamixer and raise the PCM level, it seems to be the one dropping. Minor problem, but it's not right, becomming a pain in the a$$ -- Thanks, Larry

you using Xine or Mplayer? when you change the volume there, it changes the PCM volume (music players such as xmms and ncmpc will do the same thing)

I am usingMplayer, but I never change the volume. It seems every time I shutdown and then restart I loose some in PCM. It is set to say 87 now, but when I notice a drop in volume, it's liable to be at 50 something or lower. Not a big problem, just curious why this is happening!
Thanks for the reply!-- Larry

Do you have alsa in your rc.conf?
# alsamixer (fix your settings)
# alsactl store (save them)
put alsa in your rc.conf (for restoring the soundlevels)
if that doesn't work...then I am lost
