I am trying to get the network (r8169) to load, currently it doesn't get detected and putting it in MODULES array doesn't do anything (I don't think anything works in MODULES array for me).
Was using 2.6.39 kernel, moved to 3.0.0; same problem.
Once the computer has booted I can easily' sudo modprobe r8169 && sudo dhcpcd eth0' no problems.
Any ideas on how to get it to work? Thanks in advance.

It does work for me on kernels 2.6.39-zen and 2.6.39-ck-k10 which basically are the same. Do you have more than one NIC? Did you try without adding it to rc.conf?
Also look thru /etc/modprobe.d/ that it's not accidentally (not by you) blacklisted in any of those files.
PS linux-3 kernel seems to have problem with module loadind at the moment due to kernel naming, so don't use that, not for problem solving anyway.

That was the root cause for me, thank you very much!
The question: Why were there automatically generated blacklists?
@beaverusiv: Same for you? Can you give a short feedback?

Yeah, why on earth are they auto gen'd? I used archboot to install, you?
Okay, I'll rm them and reboot now.
I also have a /etc/modprobe.d/framebuffer_blacklist.conf:
blacklist aty128fb
blacklist atyfb
blacklist cirrusfb
blacklist cyber2000fb
blacklist kyrofb
blacklist neofb
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist pm2fb
blacklist radeonfb
blacklist rivafb
blacklist s3fb
blacklist savagefb
blacklist sisfb
blacklist sstfb
blacklist tdfxfb
blacklist tridentfb
blacklist udlfb
blacklist uvesafb
blacklist viafb
blacklist vmlfb
blacklist vt8623fb
Do I need to worry about that? I'm currently using Intel G41 915 integrated.

I used also a normal arch install iso. My arch run already a time without having problems. So it's not clear for my, why the blacklists where generated. I have the framebuffer blacklist too, if your framebuffer is working normal, don't worry about that. I had also a sound blacklist, you should check all your blacklists and correct them (# works in the .conf files)

Same problem here (but with Thinkpad e1000e and iwlagn and snd-hda-intel modules). I think we should report a bug.
