Kernel patchset for gaming needs

hi everyone.

i'm looking for an actively developed kernel patchset that improves on gaming. i'm playing mostly heroes of newerth and eve online via wine. i'm confused by all the packages in aur and their progress and the corresponding nvidia packages that come with the kernel. i don't want to have to hack my abs to configure updates from any kernels, nor do i really like to compile a new kernel every day. i'm content with the arch precompiled kernel, but i often wonder if this is the end to my performance wishes without the need to install gentoo. what do you guys use and isn't too much hassle. and pointers?
