Hi! First of all, I'm not a beginner in Linux, I use Linux on my computers since 2008. But, I want to re-install my current ArchLinux installation and have some "noob" questions:
1) Whats better: LVM or partitions?
2) How big of / (root) partition size should I have?
3) Please, recommend me a partitionng scheme.
Thx a lot.

As we have no idea what are you going to do with your system, all of your questions can be answered only: "it depends".

I use OpenBox as standalone WM, Firefox, Skype and some office tools (such as Libreoffice) and terminal with vim for programming, ncmpc, mplayer and rtorrent, irssi + bitlbee for as instant messager, and sometimes ftp, http and ssh server ... Thats all...

1. LVM gives you flexibility,(but do you need it?) at the cost of added complexity.
2. & 3. If you have a 120GB disk or bigger, 20 GB for / and /home on a separate partition.

I have a 7.7GB / partition of which I'm using about 3.8GB and that includes my pacman cache. I have more apps installed than in your list so in my book a 10GB / should be more than enough.
I also have a Ubuntu install full of crap and that's only using 8GB.
