hmm, looks like VLC is also having a hard time determining the length of aac songs. A song was about 5 min long, and it started "guessing" at 7:something and kept dropping until the song ended Again, the progressbar/search seemed correct. So maybe this is a common thing and not a bug in goggles...

bloody hell, this is interresting! mplayer detected the song to be 5:54 straight away... so I suppose mplayer is using a different engine to play the music than goggles, vlc & others?
Also, it seems like they're all wrong the song is supposed to be 4:49 ... Don't know what to make of this.
Another thing I don't like is that the music stops when syncing the folders. Again, very minor thing, and not really a bug, but it would be nice to let it play while syncing, you know

The length of the song as reported in the database is calculated by taglib, it may not support calculating the length of raw aac files, not sure.

ahh, well, whatever, I decided to just avoid using aac (seems to be a bit of a pain in the ass in general)

There seems to be a bug in GNOME which prevents it from showing the trayicon. Other apps do show the trayicons so I'm not sure what's causing the problem. In any case I'm blaming the gnome developers. I've been checking to see if I can make use of the new notification-daemon which potentially can replace the traditional trayicon. I've got that kind of working, but it doesn't seem to work well in the fallback mode of gnome. So I'm kind of stuck here. Easiest would be to drop the trayicon altogether

thanks for the reply, it's true the trayicon doesn't appear in gnome but my major problem is that gmm main window doesn't appear at all... I tried to delete config files but it didn't do nothing. I'm using gnome shell.

Try running 'gogglesmm --toggle-shown'

And then make sure to uncheck "Close button minimizes to tray' in the preferences dialog.

There also seems to be an memory issue with recent sqlite3 library. When first importing music, gogglesmm will start to consume large amounts of memory (and won't release it). After importing is finished, restart gogglesmm and memory use should be back to normal.

Great program man. It gives that itunes/exaile feel and functionality without the bloat. For some reason it crashes when I try to play a .wma file though, other than that its great

Provide a bigger icon, on 1080p it looks horrible(Gnome Shell)
For Japanese and etc. use system font, that has Japanese support, instead of showing squares.

Hey I have been using Goggles MM for a while now and I've been loving it!

However just recently it seemed to break. Mp3 playback now says "No demux plugin found to play: <filepath>" , but it still plays .flac files, and smplayer is able to play mp3 files. Anyone knows what could have happened?

Edit: I installed gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins and playback is fine now.

You may have been missing some package, but it won't be anything gstreamer related.

It's the xine-lib update from 1.1.19-2 to 1.1.19-3 that has broken mp3 playback. It also makes esound and wavpack unnecessary. At first I thought that I broke it running $pacman -Qdt, but keeping those dependencies with xine-lib 1.1.19-3 still doesn't do the trick, you have to revert to 1.1.19-2.

edit : looks like a lot of ./configure options have been changed between the two releases, resulting in $xine-list-1.1 not listing mp3/mpeg3 anymore.

edit2 : okay, I found how to fix this issue ! It's just that mp3 playback needs libmodplug which is listed in optdepends for xine-lib. Install it and you get mp3 playback ! And you can safely run $pacman -Qdt, as esound and wavpack aren't needed anymore !

Congrats on your amazing work. I use Goggles on daily use and it is my only music manager. Before Goggles i have used Rhythmbox. Just keep doing good work. The only thing i dislike is blinking time in the right

It's not supposed to be blinking. Perhaps you're having some kind of graphics driver issue?

It blinks every second - when it is on pause it doesn't blink. When it is on play, it blinks every changed second.

EDIT: I have intel gma 4500M but it works just great in general. I use XFCE4.

Think I found my new music manager/player.

Just started playing with it, in LXDE (another first for me), and it's so easy to use! Clean interface, easy import and nice sync feature.

Just released 0.12.4. Hopefully soon in a repository near you! It comes with a new Portuguese translation. Also some compatibility fixes for the several notification daemons that exist out there. It should now work better with both gnome shell and gnome fallback mode.

Sift through a few pages of the thread and I'm sure if it's been mentioned but, do you have any intention of supporting Ipods? I've been through many players and so far this one is the perfect foobar replacement, except the ipod part.

Definitely on par with Foobar in terms of speed though.

I noticed Goggles had boxes for asian text. Not sure how to get it to display the regular text.
