No Input from soundcard

Hi

I have an ASUS Xonar PCI soundcard, the output works fine, but i can't get the input to work.

In the sound settings I can get an input from my usb camera/mic, I can get an input level for my motherboard sound, but cannot get one for my PCI card.

I'm not sure where to start with this one.

Thanks, Marno

Re: No Input from soundcard

I have a same problem on my Lenovo G550.
The audio input was fine some time ago, last time I used it.

I use PulseAudio through ALSA and the settings are:

Also I tried tu use bluetooth headphones but the sound does not record too.
On Windows system the mic works fine.

Re: No Input from soundcard

so i solved the problem myself, although it all looks fine in the sound settings

i had to download alsa-utils, to use alsamixer to unmute the mic level, despite it saying everthing is turned up and fine in the sound settings. why is this so? is there a way to fix it? (hopefully this helps you Doctor Drive, try use alsamixer, or gnome-alsamixer to control your mic)

on another note now that it is working is there a quick way to turn the mic on and off, more importantly switch the mic i want to use?

Re: No Input from soundcard

Solved:

Make sure that all the volume levels are up under recording in alsamixer, and that CAPTURE is active on the microphone (in alsamixer, select it and press space). As the pulseaudio wrapper is shown as "default" in alsamixer, your may have to press F6 to select your actual soundcard first.
