Since the last X.org and (proprietary) catalyst driver update, I cannot wake the monitor PC from sleep.
After leaving the computer idle for ~1 hour, it will turn off the monitor, but the leds on the case, and the monitor stays lit.
No matter what keys I press, it doesn't react, the only way to bring it out of this state is to reset the PC.
The weird thing is, that I don't have any kind of sleep-when-idle set up. This never happened before the upgrade, while the monitor
would black out after being idle, it wouldn't go to this "power saving" mode.
Where should I start debugging this?

It doesn't react to pressing the power button, which leads me to believe it's not really the monitor that is sleeping.
I don't have a screensaver, I use xfce4, I don't think it comes with anything screensaver related?

i think it is related to power managment,
and not screensaving and that the computer is sleeping.
maybe the driver have it somwere or you may try "acpi=off"
or "acpi=force" in the kernel's grub line.

It seems acpi=force solved the problem, will do some more testing, but will mark it solved in the meantime, thanks!

I was wrong, the problem still persists. Any other tips?

I worked around the problem:
It seems the problem was with xlock, it did not take the -dpms flags into account, and still switched to sleep, so I switched to using xscreensaver, which does not force the monitor to standby.
