this question might seem trivial for some of you but i'd like to change the default file association for most of my multimedia files and I can't find how i can do it with XFCE4.
could someone help me please ?
Thanks in advance.

i'd like to change the default file association for most of my multimedia files
do you mean default program association ?
how do you open them if not by first starting your application?
are you meaning from like a double click in a filemanager ?
if so, using xffm, right click the file, use "open with" and then check the top bar to insert the program command, such as xmms, and at the top right, click the "remember" box - it will then give you option for the file or the extension.
hit Return and off you go

thanks for the tip for xffm.
and what about the gentoo file manager?
is there not a central location where these associations are all configurd ?
