[SOLVED] low virtual console resolution

So... I was using nouveau driver for a while, and I loved how most of the boot process and my VC's used my  native 1280x800 resolution.
Then... I had to make the switch to the nvidia driver, and now, my VC's are back to the unreasonably low res I had before installing any graphics drivers.
Does this have to do with my modules or daemons?  Any ideas?
I've been messing about with this for a while... google hasn't helped, and this is one of the last 'to dos' on this beast.  My OCD would greatly apreciate any help.
thanks

Re: [SOLVED] low virtual console resolution

AFAIK, nouveau does KMS so the resolution is correct.
With the nvidia driver, see:
