[SOLVED] cmus: cracking music which plays fine in VLC

cmus plays the very same songs using the very same output device with cracking sounds. Using VLC there is no cracking at all.

Any idea?

What about other media players? try mpg123 or mplayer and see how they behave.

Also, try using the pu branch (git) from here:
http://cmus.sourceforge.net/#download

If that doesn't fix it, ask here:
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/cmus-devel

Re: [SOLVED] cmus: cracking music which plays fine in VLC

Thanks you. I just noticed that it must be my config. I renamed .cmus and the cracking was gone. Then I found that it was the replaygain setting which was "track-preferred". Disabling it solves the issue.

Edit: I'll try mp3gain to fix the bad replay gain information.
