July 2005 Arch Screenshots

Introduction
Following the fair and democratic process completed here we'll now have a new screenie thread each month.

Please post your new screenshots in this thread from July 1 2005

We will not be locking the old Arch screenie thread or the monthly threads so that people may still post comments and ask questions about old screenies.

This new system allows us to monitor the screenie threads and eventually lock and delete them, as you can imagine they can take up quite some space in the dbase.

Guidelines
Pretty simple · DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:

$ cp screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
$ mogrify -resize 20% thumb-screenie.png

Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies.  You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

This displays the thumbnail as a link to the screenie like this:

thumb-screenie.png

· If you do not have your own upload space you can upload to http://art.archlinux.org and link your shot here (with text) for discussion

· Several websites also offer free image hosting, of these  ImageShack is very popular and does a neat auto thumbnail:

2005053109197fv.th.png

You should use the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" link code that is supplied to post here smile

· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads!

· Any discussion about the creation of this thread should take place here

The next post in this thread should  be the first screenie on July 1

Re: July 2005 Arch Screenshots

My computer got hit by a power surge, so I ended up having to run out and buy a used PC from somebody.  So here's my Linux-in-spirit desktop:

I was about to suggest flaming you en-masse for putting up a MS screenshot, but you redeemed yourself with the sexy bird in your wallpaper. smile

I hope you guys realize that you're not making geeks look very good in the eyes of others.

To put it more bluntly: you're acting like a bunch of horny teenagers.

At LinuxTag the X.org guys were demonstrating overlapped transparent video (with about 5 or 6 video feeds) - one of them was a porno, I think... so, THEY STARTED IT!

Re: July 2005 Arch Screenshots

Well look at the screenie.

He cant use Linux (bulltish, go get the Archie liveCD tongue )

so he's bringing it to windows, and doing the same as me, when I'm forced to use windows.
Gaim, Firefox, Thunderbird, heck and I normally go a step further and get OOo, Abiword, Gimp and Inkscape.

Re: July 2005 Arch Screenshots

WOW these screenshots are amazing!

I'm working on something at the moment for my desktop.  Currently finishing off my menu icons, but Gimp is proving to be more difficult to use than Photoshop than I first thought! :-(

Missed that first time I looked through  :oops:

I don't actually know, I was looking through a site describing how to theme entice and it had a screenshot of entice with that image open and it looked awesome so I googled the filename and found an original smile
