[SOLVED] Unclean unmount on EeePC901

I have my EeePC 901 configured with /boot and / partitions on the 4Gb SSD (sda1 and sda2 respectively) and /home on the 16Gb SSD (sdb1)
Every time I boot the machine, I get the message "/dev/sda2 not cleanly unmounted - check forced" Everything else seems to work perfectly.
All partitons are formatted ext4, with journalling turned off on sda.
I am reasonably sure this error has started fairly recently, although I cannot be sure.
I have run fsck and e2fsck, which both report clean partitions.
I have googled and found a number of reports of this type of problem, but with other distros, and no real solutions.
I would be grateful for any ideas about what is happening, and  how to deal with this. I get very nervous about ignoring file system error messages!
Many thanks in advance

I

Thank you SO much, stlarch.

Changing the setting in laptop-mode.conf  as described in your link solved the problem immediately.
