openoffice doesn't start

i installed openoofice via pacman -S openoffice-base.
either running soffice or /opt/openoffice/setup doesn't work for me.
i already tried changing the DRI section in xorg.conf (though nvidia tells me to comment this part out) but nothing changed!

Re: openoffice doesn't start

You have to install the language packs. Example: For English you would install in order :
openoffice-base
openoffice-en
openoffice-spell-en

then run setup

have you done that?

Re: openoffice doesn't start

works now.
one more problem:
after running setup there is additional to the openoffice links under "office" an extra openoffe program group created "openoffice 1.1.4" ? ( one of them would be enough for me )

Re: openoffice doesn't start

I'm not sure what you're asking but, a new openoffice installation gets created for each user. So, if you set it up as root the first time......

Re: openoffice doesn't start

No, he means the KDE menus.
When I was still using OOo 1.X I had the same menu under "Office" and "Openoffice-something".
I solved the problem by removing 1.X and using 2.X beta, but 1.X lovers may simply delete one of the dupes- this won't create any havoc, AFAIK.
