Hello,
It's been a while since I last tried Arch. Yesterday I downloaded the new installation media (archlinux-2011.08.19-netinstall-x86_64.iso ), verified md5sum,and burnt it to a CD.
At first It seemed to boot just fine, however after it reached: init version 2.88 booting it started to spit a lot of errors namely:
end request, i/o errors.....
buffer i/o errors on device...
squashfs error:.......
It halted at " INIT: Id "c1" respawning too fast : disabled for 5 minutes
Any clue how to solve this???
Thanks

Hello
There is a new checksum boot param option for self-test, but of course this will fail. Do you run md5sum on your burned media? If it OK, then is a can be a firmware issue. Do you have a LG drive?
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25687 Another boot fail is here, but I do not know if user gets buffer I/O errors.
Complete error code can be useful (scsi sense code).

Just use:
dd if='path-to-iso' of=/dev/sdX
I did have to "clean" my usb stick before hand with HP USB Tool in Windows as moving the ISO onto a "dirty" stick generated errors similar to those you are experiencing
You can also use 'Unetbootin' which will look after formatting the stick "properly" for you within linux

When you are in the boot menu, press <Tab> and type 'checksum=y' on the end of the command line. Also, how much memory do you have?
