Plextor px-716a

Has any one used this to write dvd's and if so how well did it work.
I just replaced my LG Cd-r-rw with one. For cd-r it is a lot quicker but I don't have enough data I need to back up yet to try a dvd. also which would be better -r or +r.

Hi, normc... looks like no one has the 716a, so I'll respond by saying that I have the 712a model and it's been working flawlessly, so far. BTW - I always use the +r disks.

It's a Philips/BenQ rebadge, which should work better than previous Plextors (which had special Plextorian features, working only with windows software, at the cost of full MMC-3 compatibility). Good drive, but almost double the price of its BenQ brother...

It wasn't too expensive, it only cost about $150 CND.
