Re: (Solved) Failure to upgrade pkgs

Both are very fresh packages and maybe the mirror haven't fully synced yet

http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?q=eject - again, very fresh package.
A bug was fixed https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/25405 and new version uploaded. Give mirrors some time to sync.

Re: (Solved) Failure to upgrade pkgs

Still no joy. i have tried a few possible solutions from the forum and checked after each step.

These are the steps i have taken

1)from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=124977
  &    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=115717

  rm symlinks
  liblzma.so
  liblzma.so.5 (remade after pacman error)

2)from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=109998

   reinstall libarchive libfetch openssl

i didnt reinstall pacman because that would have downgraded pacman. also i didnt  try forcing pacman to install those updates.

3) from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=81097

ran sudo pacman -Sc (yes for both questions)

4)from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=94635

   used https://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html

to change mirror to latest (presently thats ftp.tku.edu.tw). ran sudo pacman -Sc and then pacman -Sy.

after all that, when i tried to install device-mapper manually, it modified its error slightly to

error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
device-mapper-2.02.88-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz is invalid or corrupted

i havent messed with SIGLEVEL in pacman.conf.

5)reinstalled pacman-4.0.0rc1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz from /var. got the same error.

can anybody suggest any new steps?

Re: (Solved) Failure to upgrade pkgs

Making the symlink to liblzma.so.5 is your error....  Doing "pacman -Sf xz" should be enough to fix your issue, although I would recommend downgrading pacman too as given you can not upgrade your system properly then you really should not test a developmental pacman build...

Re: (Solved) Failure to upgrade pkgs

i have tried to downgrade pacman as suggested, but i am getting the same error w.r.t 3.5.4-4 ().

"pacman -Sf xz" successfully reinstalls it from /var but the error still remains.

As for the symlink, without the file, pacman throws an error

pacman: error while loading shared libraries: liblzma.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

it shows the same error both before and after installing xz package.

Re: (Solved) Failure to upgrade pkgs

i have downgraded pacman after downloading it manually. everything now works. But the two symlinks remain.

Edit : Marking topic as Solved.
