Hello
I'm using the music visualizer called projectM and just recently after doing a heavy system upgrade it is completely slow and running at a low 1-5fps. Before that I used to get pretty decent framerates of around 25-30.
I used pulseaudio in order to get it to work because the other standalone packages (projectm-libvisual-alsa) were terribly outdated.
I would much rather not install pulseaudio and I only want projectM to get input from my alsa drivers... I think I need projectm-libvisual-alsa for that but none of the packages in the AUR work and I don't know how to build it from source (only know how to ./configure make && sudo make install)
does anyone in here even use projectM, its certainlly dead now isn't? anyone know of any actively developed alternatives as good as projectM?
Thanks in advance

I am using the projectm packages in community with xbmc, and all works fine. No pulseaudio on my media box, just alsa.
It simply comes down to the app you are using. Is it configured to use projectm or does it have a projectm plugin?
Of course, some packages are also set up to only use projectm through pulseaudio, so as in my last statement, it comes down to the app.
Cheers.
