two days ago, i upgraded my system. i use arch x86 with xfce4.8.
my touchpad does not work well. there are only right-click and cursor-move, the other functions i configured are lost. at first, i thought it was a defect in the driver.
when i opened the mouse settings, there is only usb-mouse settings in the device tab. i remember it had a synaptics option before upgrading. so i realise that all settings on usb-mouse are applied to synatics touchpad. my usb-mouse is set to left hand mode. and touchpas is default right-hand mode. so there must be a confict in configurations.
so what i ask is how can i get back the synaptics option in mouse settings ?
thk!

This will probably not help you, but just in case... I had a problem with mouse acceleration that suddenly didn't work after the last update. This was because libnotify had been updated but I was still using Xfce 4.6 which apparently needed the old libnotify. After removing every blocked package from pacman.conf and updating, mouse acceleration worked again.

@stqn, thanks.
but i don't block any package in pacman.conf.

Good start is wiki:

I use XFCE4 too and i find "xinput" tool really helpful. Type:
xinput list
to see which touchpad is yours (if it will be recognized). Mine is "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad ". Now type:
xinput --list-props "name of your touchpad"
and you will see a list of proeprties you can tweak for you touchpad.
You can tweak it as follows:
xinput --set-prop 'name of your touchpad' 'some property'
