GUIDE: How to make your Samsung ML-1915 work

I had a REALLY hard time finding the answer to that question so here's a small guide, hope I remember the steps..
I'm assuming that you already have CUPS installed and started.

1. Blacklist usblp in rc.conf (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS#USB_printers)
2. Reboot, or remove usblp from the started modules (modprobe -r usblp)
3. Grab the driver for the printer, it seems like the printer is too new to be in the splix-driver package. Head to this page http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/prin … ab=support and download "Unified Driver" for Linux
4. Unpack the driver
5. Head to the administrators page for CUPS (http://localhost:631/) and click "Adding Printers and Classes"
6. Plug in your printer and press "Add Printer". CUPS should now scan for your printer and it should find it as "Samsung ML-191x 252x Series"
7. Add the printer and choose to provide a PPD file
8. From the directory where you unpacked the driver, head into "./cdroot/Linux/noarch/at_opt/share/ppd/" and choose "ML-191xspl2.ppd"
9. Set the resolution you would like, page source and page size and press "Set Default Options" and voila. Your Samsung ML-1915 should work like a charm.

Hope this helps someone and that someone doesn't have to search the internet for a couple of hours

We don't support blacklisting in rc.conf anymore.

Actually with the latest version of Arch I didn't have to blacklist usblp.

So it is.
Please open a new thread, hotweiss, if you still need help.
Closing.
