Wine and Civ4 v1.74 issues

I have been trying to get Civ4 v1.74 to work in wine, and it seems to work for everyone else, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I am on Arch64 and running wine-1.3.26. The error message I keep getting is the following 

err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winemp3.acm": libmpg123.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

From what I have found at winehq this can be fixed by installing windows media player 9, but I can't install it, for I get an error message telling me that my architecture is not supported and wmp10 won't install because I don't have a previous version of wmp, which seems a little vindictive of windows if that is true.

Also, at one point I somehow got that error listed above fixed, but I got a serious of nonsensical errors after that. I tried overiding dll libraries listed in the winehq database for getting the game to run, but it didn't change anything. At that point I did a reinstall of both wine, civ4, winetricks, and installed a new program qt4wine to get a gui for some things, and I'm back to square one.

libmpg123.so.0 is in lib32-mpg123, which is listed as an optional dependency for wine.  Did you install lib32-mpg123?

Is that all you're getting?  Did you run wine from the command line?

where it is suggested to cd to the application directory first, then running "wine application.exe"

Or ask on the WineHQ forum yourself?

One little thought, did you set WINEARCH environment variable to win32 before installing?

export WINEARCH=win32

Thank you none the less, at least I cleared the one hurdle.

I've tried everything mentioned, except going to the wine forums, so off I go to them. smile
