Opera stalls loading new pages

I have been having a very unusual problem for the past few days.

In Opera, when I load up pages that I haven't visited before, it apparently loads some of it but often not enough to ever display it. Sometimes it will after a forced reload, but sometimes it just hangs at the same spot everytime.

I can load those very same pages without any problem or lag in Chromium. Also, my regular pages load and re-load just fine as well.

I haven't fiddled with any settings in Opera of late, so don't know where it is coming from.

Anyone experienced something similar or have pointers to how I can resolve it?

I haven't been using Opera in a little while.  Why not try opening opera from a terminal and reading the output to see if there are any error messages?
