Nautilus on the right and Thunar on the left.
Some of my desktop programs look like they don't have any theme. I have installed gtk-engines, but that didn't help.
The theme is located in /usr/share/themes. I have the same problem with totem and vlc. If I try to run a program as root it always looks ugly.

Well, if the right window is run by root you have to symlink to root folder. Just symlink you theme to /root/.themes/nameof your theme

Left = gtk3
right = gtk2
the other way around
look into gnome wiki to see how to set up a gtk3 theme

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I believe I already have a gtk3-theme installed.
This theme is already installed. It says it's gtk3, and it has a gtk-3.0 subfolder.

Nautilus is gtk3 and thunar gkt2. By the way: Why does that stupid gtk3 create a gtk-3.0 folder WITHOUT a fscking dot?
EDIT: Oh, XDG_CONFIG_HOME wasn't set :-O
