Is it possible to generate the menu icons? Editing menu.xml and adding icons=/path/to/icon to every application is very lousy.

Sorry for the noise. If you're using the latest openbox, icons should work. How to make it more user-friendly - I don't know.

Menu icons are a very new feature to Openbox. It makes sense that helper apps, like the various menu builders, do not support it yet. Give it time. Or code it yourself, if you have the knowledge.

which is why I just use "ArchBang". (-if I want an Arch/OpenBox desktop).
It is, in fact, just Arch Linux with, (imho) a very nicely pre-configured OpenBox Desktop user interface.
-All the other updates, config files,mirrorlists,..., are exactly the same as a standard Arch install.
when I install an app, all it's proper app pointers and icons are all automatically generated for me in the obmenu.

The "BSD" things in life are "Free", and "Open", and so is "Arch"

Try openbox-menu from AUR, it's a XDG pipe menu, that supports icons.
