NFTS Mount: KDE default vs fstab

Does someone understand why an USB ntfs partition can get mounted in KDE by default but not if mount point gets defined in fstab?

I understand I have to make some changes like setting suid in order to get it working with fstab. I just wondering why the same is not relevant for KDE?

Use Case 1
- Nothing defined in fstab for USB partition
- Plug-in USB drive
- Mount drive via KDE Device Notifier applet -> ok

Use Case 2
- Define mount point in fstab for USB partition (by uuid)
- Plug-in USB drive
- Mount drive via KDE Device Notifier applet -> error giving hint not allowed as unprivileged user

Both use cases are done with the same user. But with uc2 it should mount the the mount point I specified and not the default one.

Do your mount options in fstab include 'user' or 'users'?  If not, only root may mount and umount the drive.
