Splashy segfault on boot

I wasn't sure where else to put this.

Splashy shows up for a second when I boot, but is then replaced by the standard output of the boot sequence. I checked dmesg and found this

[ 3.992541] splashy[254]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp 00007fff610aa3a8 error 14 in splashy[400000+5000]

I searched on google and various other forums and couldn't find anything. I never had splashy working in the first place, I just installed it today, so it's not an update issue or anything.

Also, when I run sudo splashy test, the splash screen comes up correctly, except the progress bar is flickery.

Thank you.

Re: Splashy segfault on boot

I have that same line in my dmesg. I'm using grub2 - tried some different kernel boot lines, not loading video for grub... still the segfault.

I get the following (similar) output and experience the same problems:

[ 4.813765] splashy[249]: segfault at f0d6ab16 ip 0954ba5f sp
bfd771e0 error 7

Re: Splashy segfault on boot

Just to mention that I've been using fbsplash with no problems so far. (arch-elegant theme is nice)

Re: Splashy segfault on boot

Same here...
I have an Optimus laptop (i.e. an Intel onboards graphic chip combined with a Nvidia graphics card) - maybe that has something to do with the problem?
I guess someone should report this bug.
Looks like you need to login on Splashy project homepage to do so, however.
I don't really feel like creating an account just for that...
The splashy project does not look very active, by the way, 'guess I'm giving Plymouth a try.
