Asus M5A97 EVO - USB 2.0 and onboard NIC not working.

Hi,

Have just upgraded system using Asus M5A97EVO M/B and installed Arch 64.

Board has USB 2 and 3 ports and only the USB 3 ports are working under Arch. Below is the output of dmesg when I plug a keyboard into one of the USB 2 ports.

[mark@myhost ~]$ dmesg | grep -i usb

As for the NIC the device is found and I can set address and enable it however it will not send or receive data?

Thanks

No clues on the USB, sorry.

As to the network...
How did you set the address?
What are the outputs of:
ip addr
and of
ip route
??

Re: Asus M5A97 EVO - USB 2.0 and onboard NIC not working.

Perhaps you can try connecting the keyboard to another port, even to a 3.0 port and find out what happens then?

Re: Asus M5A97 EVO - USB 2.0 and onboard NIC not working.

I tried to configure the network statically using ifconfig and also tried dhcpcd. Neither work.

Network is fine if I use a broadcom PCI-E card just the onboard which doesn't work.

The keyboard is working fine on USB 3 ports it's just the USB 2 ports that don't work. They all work fine under Windows.

Is there a better forum to find help since these are probably not arch specific issues?

Thanks.

The Arch wiki and support forums might be the best places to search for help.

What is the output of

ip link

with cable (and some device of course smile) connected to the onboard NIC?

Re: Asus M5A97 EVO - USB 2.0 and onboard NIC not working.

Hi,
I have the same board and the same problems - although using ubuntu...
If you haven't found out yet: the NIC is only working with the REALTEK vendor driver.
But I have no clue for the USB2 Problem - Did you find a solution yet (another driver, linux-3.1 kernel - anything)?

I have this board too, for the NIC problem use this driver http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=27000.
I don't have any others problems. Using Arch 64, stock kernel.

Re: Asus M5A97 EVO - USB 2.0 and onboard NIC not working.

Hey Mark
You didn't happen to change the IOMMU setting in the UEFI did you?  I have just got a M5A97 EVO and been having problems.
This UEFI interface finds the usb devices fine but the kernel will not.  I found that if I flash the bios it reset things and appears to
just compare the flash if it is the same.  Afterwards the usb works. However I still trying to narrow it down myself.  I've tested with
0402 0810 & 0813 just released. All do the same thing with regards to usb 2.0.

Jonathan

EDIT:
After testing it appears to be connected to the linux nvidia blob & IOMMU settings conflicting.
