Re: gnome unstable repository

I know GNOME3 will be ready for extra when it's ready but, out of curiosity, how much is left to be done before it's ready to enter the extra repository?

When its ready. All variants of this question get the same answer.

What is the definition of "being ready"?

Re: gnome unstable repository

gnome 3 is ready for a long time but keep in mind that there are a lot of packages that needs modifications, which are not in gnome modules set. some of them will be dropped or replaced, this operation takes a lot of time

Re: gnome unstable repository

Gnome 3.2 is coming near.

End of August will be the first beta.

And as the release schedule states ( http://live.gnome.org/ThreePointOne ) there will be only one? RC before release, and also just one week before release.
So I would be glad if the repository will take the beta in a few days for us to test smile

Re: gnome unstable repository

Been waiting for this, even though I no longer use Gnome. Evolution 3.1.4 (that I'm currently running myself) doesn't crash where Evolution 3.0.2 does.

few days? first time packaging takes like a week or so. The others are quicker because we only have to bump pkgver.

I just meant that the tarball release of the beta is in a few days, and it would be nice if we won't have to wait until the rc.

Same problem here. Have to kill evo 3 or 4 times a day.

You can observe here: http://archlinux.mirrors.uk2.net/gnome- … 6/?C=M;O=D
And here: http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … /date.html

Re: gnome unstable repository

Though Wonder emphasised again and again not to use the repository, I never fear things break down (and most importantly I have an e17 desktop replacement) thus I tried [gnome unstable] since yesterday. Yesterday GDM doesn't work for either gnome or e17. Today GDM works with the update. Gnome shell still cannot start. The traditional (gnome 2.x type) window manager starts, but the title bar of a window disappears quickly after start up. Thus it is indeed not yet usable for me.

Anyway I tried on-line accounts and that's a great improvement.

Thank Wonder for the great work (and sorry if the too early test spams the forum...)

empathy/gnome-shell/folks doesn't have yet support to get the chat settings from gnome-online-accounts, i hope it can gain support in the final version.
gnome-contacts cannot fetch google contacts unless evolution is started (to create the address books). is expect for 3.4 to be used without evolution.
the center piece for goa is evolution and i didn't update this package yet.
