Compiz standalone screenshots

This is the simple desktop on my media centre box. PCManFM is launched via a keybind and used to load applications. No panel or menu apps Compiz does the rest! ust gotta setup Conky in a widget layer and its all done...

EDIT: I'll add my current setup as well. Have found a new GTK2/3 theme which is totally awesome: Zukitwo.

the hide nav bar and hide menu bars, extensions, called "hide navigation bar" and "hide menubar" (doh)

Yeah, Zukitwo is pretty nice, even though I'm not a great fan of lassekongo83 and the gazillian themes he pumps out... Looking forward to someone porting Shiki-Colors or Mint X - most GTK themes have simply reinvented the wheel since Shiki...

Switched back to Compiz instead of subtle. Found out I'm not that much of a keyboard guy. I do have subtle's tiling however, thanks to Compiz' grid plugin.

I decided to give Compiz a try because it can handle VBLANK/SYNC (useful for games) and I can't even remember when I touched it in the past. I use emerald to decorate windows (theme is known as "deviant" which I modified around a bit), tint2 as my panel and conky as my bottom panel to show information.

I start compiz with this command because I find fusion-icon too complicated not to work properly with my settings.

Hello, just been working on some wallpapers. Compiz brings us a cube. So i wanted a 3-D image and it should be arch-related. Could not find one so i created my Arch logo in 3D. Still al lot of work in progress to try several variants.

Archlinux + Compiz + glx-dock + gthumb + Equinox3D
Hope you like them, any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

That's an error from scrot. I took the screenshot too fast, so what you see there is the fading effect. I'm sorry

Hi unia I'm trying to follow your example and starting using gtk3 apps where possible.. I've just switched to Marlin from Thunar for filemanager and from lxappearance2 to lxappearance-git.. but it doesn't seems to save te correct theme settings, what do you use for managing gtk3 themes?

Currently there's a bug in LXappearance (which you can just use from the main Arch repo's, btw); take a look here:

Hi there,

i`ve just switched to archlinux but i`m still not sure how to built up my desktop. I stumbled across this thread and i think i like the idea of a standalone desktop with compiz.
But so far i`ve some problems and questions. Maybe someone here can give me a hint:

All panels i`ve tried so far (awn,xfce4-panel,lxpanel,fbpanel) are not able to display only the windows from the current desktop in the taskpanel. I`ve set "virtual desktops" in ccsm to "2" and vertical desktops to "2" too. As far as i know, at least awn and xfc4-panel should be capable of compiz virtual desktops. Any suggestions?

Another question is: What do i have to configure my self when i`m not using a full DE? How do you mount e.g. USB devices? What other things do i have to keep in mind, when using standalone compiz?

I`m thankful for any answers
