my computer is 4G memory, graphics card is Radeon HD 2400 PRO/256M memort, i installed archlinux x_64.
in system monitor, only 3.8G memory can be seen, why?

Yea, I think your card uses "HyperMemory".

+1 - the gfx card is stealing that memory. It's normal. You can potentially adjust this amount in your BIOS.

@op - if it's not shared memory then perhaps reservered by your system. I dunno about your specific hardware. I wouldn't worry about it.

in my computer, Memtest86+ sees 4300M, free -m sees 3900M

Mine has 8 G on it and free -m shows 8004. We have different motherboards.
