Question about uefi

Confused about UEFI for my system..............

I have a gigabyte 945GCM-S2 mobo and it supports x86_64.

Will this mobo accept UEFI system install in linux 3.0?

Prediction...This year will be a very odd year!

Insufficient info. Check you mobo manual for details regarding UEFI support. For a start, does you BIOS support UEFI boot option? Is it one of the new Sandy Bridge system.

Re: Question about uefi

Thanks for reference to sandy bridge.

If bios must cover uefi my mobo does not include it.

Wonder why the data in print does not emphasize the need for uefi in bios?

Most of the pre Sandy Bridge motherboards do not support UEFI boot, except few Intel server motherboards etc. I don't think gigabyte 945GCM-S2 support uefi. May I ask why you need uefi? Just to try it or do you have a high capacity HDD that is not recognized by BIOS? FWIW check out www.rodsbooks.com/bios2uefi/index.html .
