Hi,
I have installed Archlinux on a netbook
Everything works - I can also see wlans over the applet - but when I want to click on a network name to give the password - nothing happens.
What could be the problem

Me to. But it is not only networkmanager, it is also wicd. Authentication fails and fails over and over again.

For wicd you need to open the network properties and put in the passphrase there.

I'm also experiencing something similar on my netbook under Xfce.
When I click on a wlan network in the networkmanager applet it asks for the root password and then does nothing.
I need to rightclick the applet's icon and open up the connections to manually add the passphrase into the settings for each network.
Arch - makes me feel right at /home

Seems there is a bug.
Before I used a very early 2 month old archlinux system there was just a issue with starting networkmanager with booting but the Passphrase WIndows came. Could it be that with kernel 3.0 something changed?
Should somebody do a bug report?

Normally it should work with consolekit, if not add your user to the networkmanager group.

I think the problem was that I forgotten to disable the network daemon in the rc.conf
