Intel 945 goes erratic and machine frozen

Using gnome 3, linux 3, and during heavy usage(?) or exit from xscreensaver sometimes causes erratic display of whats on the screen and the computer is locked with no further response or an easily tracable cause.  Have run memtest+ without any errors.

Re: Intel 945 goes erratic and machine frozen

I think the problem may be related to suspend with the acpitool.  Something gets upset after wakeup.
---Has found that the acpi not need be invoked to freeze the computer---

Re: Intel 945 goes erratic and machine frozen

I updated the gnome desktop suite yesterday and regardless of acpitool, the gnome power manager is causing my system to sleep after about 15 minutes in partial cases where the machine does not return and has to be rebooted.
