Changing the power state of a PCI device

Hello, I'd like to change the power state of my NIC that is actually in D0(fully on) to any of the other states D1,D2, D3hot or D3cold, I know it has to do be done with ACPI but I don't understand how. I'm using mandriva 2010.the version of the kernel is linux 2.6.33.7

Thanks
